The disadvantage to this is the cord on the dimmer switch is only 6 feet long, so it’s functionality is limited by the length of the cord.

The easiest way to reduce the intensity of the vibration is to simply put a clean sock over the vibrating head. This is more convenient and cheaper than using the dimmer switch method. Plus you don’t risk damaging your marvelous toy by using the dimmer switch to vary the power. My hubby says it won’t cause any damage, but the manufacturer may disagree. Besides the sock method is not only inexpensive; you aren’t limited by the dimmer switch’s cord length.
