There are very many massage chairs available, and the question is simply: where do you start to choose the best massage chair. As always, going online to find a review is always a good idea.
One of the most well-known massage chair manufactures is Sanyo. Their range includes some of the most popular massage chairs available. Some chairs from Sanyo have technology not found in models from other makers.
Some Sanyo models have stiffness sensors. These find areas of the body that need to be massaged and target them. There are also fitness sensors and massage memory.
The fitness sensor determines your body shape and contour and assists the chair in fitting your needs.
Onto another provider of massage chairs… iJoy, which owns the “Human Touch” massage chair technology. Chairs with this technology move three-dimensionally and have four different mode settings.
Some of the highest rankings are given to premier massage chairs. Users say the chairs’ massaging techniques are great, and even go so far as to say that they improve greatly back and neck pain. Despite their great reputation, Premier chairs are fairly inexpensive.
One of the most popular massage chairs is designed by Human Touch. They are also the most expensive. They are the most technologically advanced chairs on the market today. The mechanisms resemble the hands of a massage therapist. These chairs are great for people with back and shoulder pain. They have also been reported to help relieve headaches.
There’s no doubt that a good massage chair will do wonders if you suffer from pain. The main thing is finding one to suit your budget. But whichever massage chair you choose, you’ll doubtless feel the benefit, and all without having to leave the comfort of your chair, or your home.
Now that’s a good a way as any to cure those niggling aches and pains… and maybe those of your friends as well, if you care to invite them in!

I have started an exercise program and with it have come the associated aches and pains. I’ve visited a therapeutic massage clinic and it seems to help. After the massage, I’m told to drink lots of water to “wash out” the toxins released from the massage. I do drink lots of water, but I suspect few, if any, toxins are removed by massage therapy. Any thoughts?
You can research this subject all over the internet. There have not been many in depth studies about the benefits of massage, though the Touch Institute has some research published. The word “toxins” is misleading, and therapists believe many different things. The only thing that is really proven is that cellular waste is flushed out of cells during massage since you are increasing blood flow (circulation, fresh oxygen and nutrients) to the area, and drinking water promotes healthy cellular function.

I am wondering if anyone can tell me what exactly causes bruising after a good therapeutic massage. I’ve tried to Google the answer, but I can’t seem to find any real explanation.
I do know that for some people it is a “normal” after affect. I am wondering WHAT exactly is the cause. It isn’t because the therapist went to hard, it could also partially be due to the good strong pressure, but I know there is another reason… I just don’t know what that reason is.
Thanks everyone
Sorry to say bruising is indeed not normal. Bruises are ruptured capillaries or veins that cause the blood to surface. That particular massage therapists is manipulating to rough. It’s not safe or healthy for bruising to occur after any massage. Its suppose to be therapeutic no damaging.

As one of the most ancient healing art forms, massage therapy is growing in modern culture, as well as in acceptance by the medical community. While conventional medicine does have its place in healthcare, studies are finding that massage therapy is a natural complement to most conventional medicine treatments, and can be an excellent alternative therapy for those seeking relief from stress and common health conditions like backaches, and other musculoskeletal problems.
A number of sports teams, in fact, have begun facilitating massage therapy as one of many available on-site treatments for team players. Many times, staff massage therapists provide bodywork treatments like sports massage, deep tissue massage, acupressure and Swedish massage to help prevent injuries, and sooth aching, stiff joints and muscles.
In nursing homes, geriatric massage therapy is finding a steady place as well. Because older individuals suffer from a variety of health conditions including arthritis, Alzheimer’s, heart disease and other age-related health issues, massage therapy may prove valuable in helping alleviate a number of these conditions by lowering heart rate and blood pressure, reducing stress and anxiety, improve circulation, and alleviating chronic pain, among others.
As a noninvasive and natural healthcare treatment, massage therapy has been proven to reduce muscular tension, alleviate emotional stress, and improve overall wellbeing. Today, individuals must merely visit the airport or personal office cubicles, as a number of professional massage therapists have initiated health and wellness cooperatives whereby onsite chair massage therapy is provided to both corporate employees and travelers on the go.
In addition to seated massage therapy, there are a growing number of massage clinics, day spas, and physical therapy centers that offer a wide assortment of massage disciplines including Myofascial Release, Trigger Point therapy, craniosacral therapy, Shiatsu, infant and prenatal massage, Esalen massage, lymphatic drainage, Thai massage, and countless others.
If you (or someone you know) are interested in finding massage therapy programs, let professional training within fast-growing industries like natural healing, cosmetology, acupuncture, oriental medicine, Reiki, and others get you started! Explore massage therapy near you.
